Question: How will Felon notification be handled?

Answer:  The State Registration list will be merged with a list from the department of

corrections and then sent to the Municiple Clerks.

That will be a big improvement over current practice.  Ms. Hesse

doesn’t anticipate that we have many felons voting here.

The Governor can sign a release under some circumstances.  We

agreed that is not widely known.

Question: Do you anticipate using off site facilities for Absentee Balloting?

Answer:  It would not be useful here.  Milwaukee needs it most.

Question:  Is same day registration a problem?  What about Photo ID's?

Answer:  Fraud is possible--we just don't know.  Example:  people wanting to

vote on the smoking ban registered as an Appleton  Resident  but later

find they had moved from that address.  Is it too easy to vote twice?

We just don't know.  Can change address by tel. 3 weeks before

the  election.

Question:  Do you favor statewide registration of deputies?

Answer:  She would like to see a system that allows for wider authorizations

especially because we are located in three different counties.

Big, but - she has been plagued with untrained deputies.  Under

any circumstances the training must be thorough and mandatory.

Note:  I had a couple more questions to ask but I was over my self imposed time limit.

I asked her if the League had ever been a problem in election night reporting

and she was enthusiastic about saying never.
